Question:
How do I connect my digital piano to my PC via MIDI and what do I need for it?
Answer:
At first you need a MIDI adapter cable for the PCs Gameport. YouÄll get it at your local computer shop. It offers 2 MIDI jacks on one side and the plug for the Gameport on the other side. This cable uses the MIDI drivers of your soundcard. Often the driver names are SB MIDI OUT or MPU MIDI Out.
Open the Windows Control Panel-->Multimedia (Audio) and check if the drivers are installed (usually they are).
Next you need a MIDI sequenzer or score writing software, f.ex. Cubase or Finale. Now you should make sure that the MIDI input and output is selected correctly in this software. MIDI Input and Output usually can be defined in these programs. Switsch the interface switch of your piano to MIDI, if existing!
Play!
If there is no signal try to exchange the 2 MIDI jacks with each other (MIDI IN/OUT).
